Tipspot started from a simple question: “Why oh why isn’t there a simple overview of what’s happening in town, based on the interests of me and my friends?”
Sure, all major cities and niches have their own websites and magazines with all kinds of event listings. But we were looking for one unified, complete and independent overview. Above all, an overview that is ‘smart’; which respects your interests and keeps you in the loop of what your friends recommend.
It became clear that this didn’t exist yet and that there was only one solution: build it ourselves. And while we’re at it, we’ll make that ‘smart’ overview available on your mobile phone, so you’re always in the loop, anywhere, anytime.
Design and development started in the beginning of 2008. A complete city calendar with a special twist: a social network feature that makes the best events come forward based on your interests and ‘tips’ of your friends. Many months of development later, we had the first edition of the website and mobile applications.
That’s where we are now. As said, Tipspot is a social platform. It works best when you bring some friends — or make new ones on the website. It’s improving every day and your feedback is greatly appreciated. So let’s go! Your friends are waiting inside…
